Wake of Disarray meaning In the wake of a dramatic, or chaotic event, there is a quiet, filled with vulnerability. It’s from this place of vulnerability that “Wake of Disarray” was born. In March 2020 the noise of the motorway traffic I can usually hear from my house stopped. All I could hear were the birds and the wind in the trees. In that stillness I found time to reflect on, and form opinions on, issues that I would not have had time to while in motion. I read a lot, Kerouac, Morrison, Thoreau, Lorca. The poems that I wrote during this time turned into “Wake of Disarray”. On reflection I was writing a “State of My Nation Address”. This is where I stand on issues like animal rights, the aggressions and injustices of capitalism, the elevation of women’s history and the need for spirituality and a closeness to nature as central parts of a full human experience. I believe that with every action we decide the kind of world that we want to exist in. Perhaps these songs will plant a seed for change, or spark a debate
