GULF COAST RECORDS - EXCLUSIVE VAULT COLLECTION!
Like many musicians, Mike Zito’s European tour was cancelled because of Covid-19. While flying home from Europe, Zito decided to write, record, mix and master an album while he was quarantined in his recording studio. Mike Zito set out to write the songs and record the demo parts and then sent them to the individual members of his band. Zito’s band: Matt Johnson, Doug Byrkit, and Lewis Stephens recorded their individual instruments at their homes and sent the parts back to Mike where he mixed the final recordings and mastered the album in his studio. The goal was to be as creative as possible and complete a timely, entertaining album to offer to his fans at the end of his 14 days of quarantine. In return, fans from around the world contributed to his Gofundme.
Zito followed no rules, and wrote what he was feeling regardless of style or genre and used his feelings of fear, hope, love and rebelliousness to fuel his creativity. He collaborated with LA Guns and Guns n Roses founding member Tracii Guns on the song ‘Don’t Touch Me’ and several songwriting efforts with his label partner Guy Hale. Zito also revisited one of his favourite Royal Southern Brotherhood songs that he penned, ‘Hurts My Heart’……. it just seemed like it was time.
